Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami, born on 3 September 1990, is an Indian international cricketer known for his right-arm fast or fast-medium bowling style. He represents India in all formats of the game and has played for Bengal in domestic cricket. Shami is renowned for his ability to bowl off the seam and utilize swing, including reverse swing, to move the ball both ways. He is particularly effective in the death overs of limited-overs matches and has been described as 'unplayable' on numerous occasions.

Shami made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2011 when he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he only played a single match in the 2011 Champions League Twenty20. He later joined Delhi Daredevils in 2014 and played in 12 matches during the season. Despite being retained, he missed the following season due to a knee injury. Over the years, Shami has played for various IPL franchises, including Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab.

In the 2019 IPL season, Shami was bought by Kings XI Punjab and made a significant impact, becoming the team's leading wicket-taker. He continued his impressive performance in the following seasons, consistently taking wickets and showcasing his bowling prowess. In the 2022 IPL auction, he was purchased by Gujarat Titans for ₹6.25 crore. Shami excelled in the tournament, taking 20 wickets and winning the Purple Cap for being the leading wicket-taker. He played a crucial role in helping Gujarat Titans win the league title in their debut season.
