Matthew William Short, born November 8, 1995, is an Australian international cricketer known for his right-handed top-order batting and right-arm off-break bowling. He represents Australia in ODI and T20I formats and plays domestically for Victoria, captains the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, and features for the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket. Short made his international debut in August 2023 against South Africa, scoring a quickfire 66 in his second T20I, helping Australia to a series sweep. He made his ODI debut against India in September 2023 and took his first international wicket in November 2023.

Short has been a key performer in domestic cricket, notably scoring his maiden Big Bash League century in January 2023, leading the Adelaide Strikers to the highest successful run chase in BBL history, and winning the BBL12 Player of the Tournament award. In the 2024 white-ball tour of England, he took his maiden five-wicket haul in T20Is with figures of 5/22, the third-best for an Australian in the format, and scored his first ODI half-century off just 23 balls. Short’s all-round abilities and impactful performances have quickly established him as an important player in Australia’s limited-overs setup.
