Nathan Ellis

Nathan Trevor Ellis, born September 22, 1994, is an Australian right-arm fast-medium bowler who made a remarkable international debut in August 2021 by becoming the first cricketer ever to take a hat-trick on his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut. Playing for Australia against Bangladesh, Ellis dismissed three batsmen in the final over, marking a historic achievement despite Australia losing the match. Before his international breakthrough, he played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League and Tasmania in domestic cricket, making his T20 debut in 2018 and first-class debut in 2020.

Ellis quickly established himself as a key death-overs specialist with his ability to bowl yorkers and variations, earning IPL contracts with Punjab Kings from 2022 to 2024 and later signing with Chennai Super Kings for 2025. He made his ODI debut in March 2022 against Pakistan and has since been a valuable member of Australia’s limited-overs squads. Ellis also played county cricket for Hampshire in England and was part of Australia’s squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, highlighting his growing importance in international and franchise cricket.
