Mitchell Owen

Mitchell James Owen, born on September 16, 2001, is a rising Australian cricketer known for his powerful batting and all-round abilities. He made his Twenty20 debut for the Hobart Hurricanes in January 2021 and his List A debut for Tasmania in February 2021. Owen made his first-class debut in October 2023. In the 2024–25 Big Bash League (BBL) season, he emerged as a key player, scoring an unbeaten 101 off 64 balls against the Perth Scorchers in December 2024. He then equalled the record for the fastest BBL century in the final on January 27, 2025, scoring 108 runs off 42 balls to lead the Hobart Hurricanes to their maiden title.

Owen’s explosive batting, including 11 sixes in the BBL final, has made him one of the most exciting young talents in Australian T20 cricket. His performances earned him a maiden international call-up in June 2025, when he was named in Australia’s T20I squad for the West Indies tour. Known for his aggressive style and versatility as a right-handed batsman and medium-pace bowler, Owen is seen as a promising all-rounder with a bright future in both domestic and international cricket.
