Scott Edwards

Scott Andrew Edwards is a Tongan-Australian-Dutch cricketer who represents the Netherlands. He made his first-class debut for the Netherlands against Namibia in 2017 and his List A debut against Namibia later that year. In June 2022, Edwards was named as the new captain of the Dutch cricket team, after Pieter Seelaar was forced to retire due to a back injury. Edwards is the Netherlands' seventh ODI captain.

Edwards was born in Tonga but grew up in Australia, where he played club cricket for Richmond in Victorian Premier Cricket. He qualified for the Netherlands through his Dutch grandmother and holds dual citizenship. Edwards formed a relationship with former Australian wicket-keeper Ryan Campbell, who later became head coach of the Netherlands Cricket Team. In 2019, Edwards was selected to play for the Rotterdam Rhinos in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament, though the tournament was later cancelled.

Edwards made his T20I debut for the Netherlands in 2018 and his ODI debut later that year. He has since been a key player for the Dutch national team, achieving the world record for the fastest T10 century and the highest individual T10 score in 2019. Edwards was named in the Dutch squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, and in 2022 he led the Netherlands to the semi-finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier, securing their place in Round 1 of the 2022 tournament. In the 2023 Cricket World Cup, Edwards played match-winning knocks to help the Netherlands defeat South Africa and Bangladesh.
