Cameron Bancroft

Cameron Bancroft is an Australian right-handed opening batsman contracted to Western Australia and the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. He is known for his solid technique and patient approach, a style often more suited to Test cricket, which earned him a Baggy Green debut in the 2017-18 Ashes series against England. His ability to bat for long periods was evident in the 2014/15 Sheffield Shield season, where he scored 896 runs and recorded a maiden double-century, batting for an astonishing 13 hours.

Bancroft’s career has been significantly marked by the ball-tampering incident in South Africa in 2018, which led to a nine-month ban from cricket. Upon his return, he successfully worked his way back into contention for national selection, featuring in the 2019 Ashes squad, and resumed his prolific run-scoring at the domestic level. He has since reinvented his T20 game, becoming a key contributor for the Scorchers and now the Thunder, demonstrating both resilience and an adaptable approach to all formats of the game.
