Abhimanyu Easwaran
Abhimanyu Easwaran is a technically sound right-handed opening batsman who has been a consistent performer in India’s domestic circuit, particularly for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy. Born in Dehradun, Easwaran trained at the cricket academy established by his father before shifting to Kolkata at a young age to pursue professional cricket. Since making his first-class debut in 2013, he has accumulated over 7,500 runs with an average close to 49, including numerous centuries and a highest score of 233, establishing himself as one of the most dependable red-ball batters in the country.
Easwaran’s temperament and ability to play long innings earned him regular selections for India A and Duleep Trophy teams, where he also led the side on several occasions. His performances on India A tours, especially in seaming overseas conditions, have drawn praise from selectors and former cricketers. Though yet to make his Test debut, he has been part of multiple senior squads, including the 2025 Test series against England, where he has been seen as a contender for the top-order, thanks to his classical technique and calm approach.
Despite facing stiff competition and some criticism over recent A-team outings, Easwaran’s consistency and patience at the crease continue to make him a strong red-ball prospect for India. His leadership qualities, work ethic, and ability to grind out runs in challenging conditions reflect his readiness for the highest level. As India transitions into a new era of Test cricket, Easwaran stands on the brink of fulfilling his long-awaited dream of wearing the national cap.
