Harry Cherrington Brook, born on 22 February 1999, is an English cricketer who represents England internationally and Yorkshire domestically. Primarily a right-handed batsman, he also bowls right-arm medium pace. Brook made his international debut for England in January 2022 and was part of the England cricket team that won the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Brook's cricketing journey began with captaining the England under-19 cricket team in a five-match youth ODI series against India in August 2017. In December 2017, he was named as the captain of England's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he scored a century against Bangladesh, becoming the second England captain after Alastair Cook to achieve this feat in the U19 World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) named Brook as the rising star of the squad following his impressive performances.

Brook's international breakthrough came in January 2022 when he was named in England's T20I squad for the series against West Indies, making his debut on 26 January 2022. He continued to impress, earning a place in England's Test squad for their home series against New Zealand in May 2022 and the ODI squad for their home series against India in July 2022. Brook made his Test debut against South Africa in September 2022 and was included in England's squad for the 2022 Men's T20 World Cup, which they went on to win.

Brook's remarkable start to his Test career saw him amass 809 runs in his first six appearances, batting ten times with a career average of 80.90 and a strike rate of almost 100. During the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in 2022–23, he top-scored in both innings, notching up his first Test century of 153 runs in the first innings and 87 in the second, helping England secure a win on the final day.

In February 2023, during the second Test against New Zealand at Basin Reserve, Brook became the first batter to reach 800 Test runs in just nine innings, facing only 803 deliveries in his Test career. He registered his career-best Test score of 186 off just 174 deliveries, including 24 fours and 5 sixes, rescuing England from a precarious position and adding a crucial 302-run partnership with Joe Root, breaking the record for the highest ever partnership by an English pair against New Zealand in New Zealand. Brook's impressive performances continued in the 2023 Ashes, where he scored 75 in the third Test to help England win the match, becoming the fastest (by balls faced) to 1000 runs.

Brook's exceptional start to his international career, particularly in Test cricket, has been nothing short of remarkable. His ability to score runs quickly and consistently has made him a valuable asset to the England team across all formats, and he is poised to play a significant role in their future success.
