Shoaib Bashir

Shoaib Bashir is a tall and skillful right-arm off-spinner who has quickly risen through the ranks to become a key figure in England’s Test setup. Standing at over 6'4', Bashir generates sharp bounce and drift, making him a potent threat even on unresponsive pitches. He began his professional journey with Somerset, signing a contract in 2022 and making his first-class debut in 2023, impressing selectors with his control, temperament, and a viral video of him bowling to Alastair Cook in the nets.

Bashir was fast-tracked into the England Test squad for the 2024 tour of India after just a handful of first-class games, underlining the management’s belief in his potential. He made an immediate impact, claiming a five-wicket haul in just his second Test. His form continued at home, where he picked up nine wickets in a dominant win over Zimbabwe and achieved the milestone of 50 Test wickets before the age of 22.
