Zak Crawley is a tall and elegant right-handed opening batsman who has been a regular feature in England’s Test squad since making his debut in 2019. Standing at 6'5", he combines reach and timing to play flowing strokes through the off-side, often dominating the early phases of a Test innings. Crawley earned his national call-up after consistent performances for Kent and was fast-tracked into the England setup as part of the team’s long-term red-ball strategy.

He announced himself with a spectacular 267 against Pakistan in 2020, showcasing his ability to play long, match-defining innings. Despite a few inconsistent patches in his career, Crawley has been backed by the team management for his positive approach and potential to change games quickly. His partnership with fellow opener Ben Duckett has added aggression and intent to England’s top order, aligning well with the Bazball philosophy.

Crawley continues to be a vital cog in England’s Test plans, particularly in home conditions where his strokeplay and confidence shine. While his ODI appearances have been limited, his Test contributions have made him a key player in red-ball cricket. As he gains more experience, Crawley is expected to bring greater consistency and cement his place as a dependable opener in the years to come.
