Nandre Burger

Nandre Burger, born on 11 August 1995, is a South African cricketer who plays as a left-arm medium-fast bowler for the South African national team and Western Province domestically. Initially a talented tennis and squash player, his sporting focus shifted to cricket after a back injury curtailed his squash career. He pursued psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he began cricket seriously, coached by Neil Levenson.Burger made his first-class debut for Gauteng in February 2016 and his T20 and List A debuts shortly thereafter. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. He played for several domestic teams, including Cape Town Blitz and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in the Mzansi Super League, and he joined Western Province in 2021. After recovering from a lumbar stress fracture, he returned to cricket in October 2022.

Internationally, Burger was named in South Africa's T20I squad for the Pakistan series in January 2021. He made his debut across all three formats—T20I, ODI, and Test—in December 2023 against India, with notable bowling figures. In December 2023, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2024. He earned his first national contract in 2024 and was a reserve player for South Africa in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Burger is recognized for his pace and swing bowling, quickly establishing himself as a key pace bowler for South Africa.
