Saqib Mahmood

Saqib Mahmood, born on February 25, 1997, in Birmingham, England, is a right-arm fast bowler who plays for England and Lancashire. Known for his pace and skillful bowling, Mahmood first gained attention during the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, where he was the third-highest wicket-taker. He made his international T20 debut for England in November 2019 and his ODI debut in February 2020. Mahmood’s Test debut came in March 2022 against the West Indies, where he impressed by taking six wickets. Despite battling injuries, including a back stress fracture that sidelined him for much of 2022 and 2023, he has remained a key figure in England’s white-ball squads.

Domestically, Mahmood has been a standout performer for Lancashire, becoming the first bowler from the club to take five-wicket hauls in consecutive List A matches in 2019. He has also played in franchise leagues such as the Pakistan Super League and The Hundred, where he was instrumental in Oval Invincibles’ 2024 title defense, earning Player of the Final honors for his match-winning bowling. In 2024 and early 2025, Mahmood continued to contribute significantly to England’s limited-overs teams, signing a new three-year white-ball contract with Lancashire through 2027, underscoring his importance as a fast-bowling spearhead with the ability to deliver match-winning spells.
