John Campbell is a left-handed opening batter and occasional off-spinner from Jamaica who has represented the West Indies in all three formats. Born on September 21, 1993, he made his international debut in 2019 and quickly made headlines during the Ireland Tri-Nation Series that year. In the opening match, Campbell scored a career-best 179 runs off 137 balls against Ireland, forming a record-breaking 365-run opening partnership with Shai Hope—the highest for the first wicket in ODI history. In his Test career, Campbell has played 20 matches, scoring 888 runs at an average of 26.12, including three half-centuries.

Campbell's aggressive batting style is often compared to that of his idol, Chris Gayle. Despite facing challenges, including a suspension in 2022 for an anti-doping rule violation—which was later reduced to 22 months—he has demonstrated resilience and a commitment to returning to top-level cricket. In April 2025, Cricket West Indies withdrew a separate four-match suspension imposed on Campbell after a tribunal review, allowing him to resume playing domestically and internationally. With his powerful stroke play and experience, Campbell remains a valuable asset to the West Indies batting lineup.
