Tom William Hartley, born May 3, 1999, in Ormskirk, Lancashire, England, is a left-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler who plays for Lancashire and the England national team. Standing 6 ft 4 in tall, Hartley made his first-class debut in August 2020 and his ODI debut for England in September 2023 against Ireland. In January 2024, he made a significant impact on his Test debut against India by taking nine wickets in the match, including a seven-wicket haul in the second innings—the best by an England spinner on debut since 1948. Hartley quickly established himself as a frontline spinner for England, finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the 2024 India series.

Domestically, Hartley has been a key player for Lancashire and Manchester Originals in The Hundred, contributing with both ball and bat, including several useful lower-order innings. Known for his accuracy and control, he has taken multiple five-wicket hauls in first-class cricket and played in various T20 franchise leagues such as Bangla Tigers and New York Strikers. Son of former international runner Bill Hartley, Tom supports Everton F.C. and enjoys traveling and working out. Despite a hand injury in early 2025, Hartley remains a promising young spinner and was named in England’s squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, marking him as a rising talent in English cricket.
