Gudakesh Motie

Gudakesh Motie, born 29 March 1995 in Georgetown, Guyana, is a left-arm orthodox spinner and left-handed batsman who plays domestic cricket for Guyana and internationally for the West Indies. He represented the West Indies at the 2014 Under-19 World Cup and made his first-class debut in November 2015. Early in his career, Motie impressed with multiple five-wicket hauls, including match figures of 11/105 in just his second game.

He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2021 Regional Super50 tournament and made his T20 debut for Guyana Amazon Warriors in September 2021. Motie made his international debut in T20Is in December 2021 against Pakistan, followed by his Test and ODI debuts in June and July 2022 respectively, both against Bangladesh. He scored his maiden first-class century in May 2022.

Motie has been notable for his bowling impact, including making history by opening the bowling with a spinner for West Indies in a Test match in 2025. He was named in the West Indies squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup and continues to be a key spinner for the team across formats.
