Johnson Charles, born on January 14, 1989, in Castries, St. Lucia, is a dynamic right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper who has been a pivotal figure in West Indies cricket, particularly in the limited-overs formats. He made his international debut in a T20I against England in September 2011, followed by his ODI debut against Australia in March 2012. Charles quickly gained recognition for his aggressive batting style, notably scoring 84 runs against England in the 2012 ICC World Twenty20, contributing significantly to West Indies' championship victory.

Throughout his career, Charles has been instrumental in several key matches. In February 2013, he achieved consecutive ODI centuries against Australia and Zimbabwe, showcasing his consistency and prowess at the top of the order.
