Suzie Bates

Suzannah Wilson Bates, born on September 16, 1987, in Dunedin, New Zealand, is widely regarded as one of the greatest female cricketers of all time. A right-handed batting all-rounder and right-arm off-spin bowler, Bates has had a stellar international career since her debut in 2006. She captained the New Zealand women's cricket team, the White Ferns, for almost seven years, leading them to multiple ICC tournament finals and inspiring a generation of players.

Bates holds numerous records, including being the all-time leading run-scorer in Women’s T20 Internationals and the first player to score 1,000 T20 World Cup runs. She has an impressive tally of 12 ODI centuries and was honored as the ICC Women's ODI and T20I Player of the Year in 2016. Beyond cricket, Bates also represented New Zealand in basketball at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. After reinventing her bowling into off-spin following a shoulder injury in 2020, she has continued to be a vital player for New Zealand. In recent years, Bates has excelled in domestic T20 leagues worldwide, captaining the Oval Invincibles to The Hundred title in 2022 and playing for teams like Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Sixers in the Women's Big Bash League.
