Hayley Matthews

Hayley Kristen Matthews, born on 19 March 1998 in Barbados, is a prominent all-rounder for the West Indies women's cricket team and Mumbai Indians, batting right-handed and bowling right-arm off break. She made her international debut at age 16 in 2014 and was a key player in West Indies’ 2016 World Twenty20 victory. Matthews was appointed West Indies captain in June 2022, having previously served as vice-captain, and has been recognized for her outstanding performances, including being named Wisden’s Leading Twenty20 Cricketer in 2023.

Throughout her career, Matthews has played for various domestic teams across Australia, England, and India, excelling in franchise leagues such as the Women’s Big Bash League and the Women’s Premier League, where she won player of the tournament in 2023. Internationally, she has scored multiple centuries and taken over 100 wickets, consistently contributing as a leading all-rounder. Under her captaincy, West Indies reached the semi-finals of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and she continues to lead the team in major tournaments, including the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
