Gulbadeen Naib

Gulbadin Naib, born on March 16, 1991, is a prominent Afghan cricketer known for his all-round skills. A right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler, Naib has been a key figure in the Afghanistan national cricket team. In April 2019, he was appointed as the One Day International (ODI) captain for Afghanistan ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, succeeding Asghar Afghan. However, following Afghanistan's performance in the World Cup, Rashid Khan was named the new captain across all formats.

Naib's cricketing journey began with his debut in the 2011–13 ICC Intercontinental Cup One-Day, representing Afghanistan against Canada. He further showcased his talent in the Faysal Bank Twenty-20 Cup, making notable contributions for the Afghan Cheetahs team. His performances, including a half-century and crucial wickets, highlighted his potential as an all-rounder for Afghanistan.

Over the years, Naib continued to excel, featuring in Afghanistan's first ODI against a Full Member Test-playing nation, Pakistan, in 2012. He also played a significant role in Afghanistan's World Twenty20 Qualifier campaign, making his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against the Netherlands. Naib's milestone of playing his 100th international match and scoring his 1,000th run in ODI cricket against Bangladesh further solidified his importance in the Afghanistan cricket team.
