Craig Young

Craig Alexander Young, born on 4 April 1990 in Derry, Northern Ireland, is an Irish professional cricketer who bowls right-arm medium pace and bats right-handed. He made his first-class debut for Ireland in May 2013 against Scotland and his ODI debut in September 2014, where he took five wickets, becoming the ninth player to achieve a five-wicket haul on ODI debut. Young made his T20I debut in June 2015, also against Scotland.

He began his career playing for Bready Cricket Club and represented Ireland at the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Young had a stint with Sussex from 2010 to 2013 but was hampered by injuries. He has been awarded central contracts by Cricket Ireland since 2019 and has been a regular member of Ireland’s squads for major tournaments, including the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers and the 2021 T20 World Cup provisional squad.

Young has also been part of Ireland Wolves and was named in squads for tours and series across formats. In May 2024, he was named in Ireland’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, reflecting his ongoing role as a key pace bowler for Ireland.
