Dillon Heyliger

Dillon Heyliger is a Canadian cricketer who plays for the Canada national cricket team. He was born on October 21, 1989, in Suddie on the Essequibo Coast of Guyana.

Heyliger's cricketing journey began in Guyana, where he represented the national team at the under-15 and under-19 levels. He was also selected in Guyana's squad for the 2011 Caribbean Twenty20 tournament, although he did not play in any matches. Heyliger played club cricket in Guyana, Antigua, Trinidad, and England, gaining valuable experience.

In 2014, Heyliger moved to Canada and began playing for the Islanders in the Toronto District Cricket Association, later switching to the Vikings in 2015. He has also represented the Montreal Tigers in the Global T20 Canada tournament, both in 2018 and 2019.

Heyliger made his international debut for Canada in 2018, playing a List A match in the ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. He has since been a regular member of the Canadian national team, representing them in various international tournaments, including the ICC World Twenty20 Americas Qualifier, the Regional Super50 tournament in the West Indies, and the ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament in Namibia.

Heyliger's standout performances have come in the T20I format, where he has been a consistent wicket-taker for Canada. In the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier tournament, he finished as the leading wicket-taker, with 11 dismissals in five matches. He also became the first bowler for Canada to take a five-wicket haul in T20Is in a match against Argentina in 2021.

Most recently, in July 2022, Heyliger was named in Canada's squad for the 2022 Canada Cricket World Cup Challenge League A tournament, where he took his first five-wicket haul in List A cricket in the opening match against Denmark. On April 4, 2023, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Canada against Namibia in the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off.

Heyliger's consistent performances and his ability to contribute with both bat and ball have made him a valuable asset to the Canadian national team as they continue to make their mark on the international cricket stage.
