Finlay McCreath
Finlay David William McCreath is a versatile right-handed batter and right-arm medium-fast bowler who has become a key figure in Scotland's middle order. Born on October 16, 1998, he progressed through the Scottish youth ranks at the U15, U17, and U19 levels before making his senior international debut in May 2025. McCreath’s rise to the national team was highlighted by a sensational List A debut for Scotland A, where he scored a century (100 off 110 balls) against Zimbabwe A. He carried this form into his early international career, recording his first ODI half-century against Nepal and top-scoring with a resilient 81 against the Netherlands just days later.
As of late January 2026, McCreath has been named in Scotland’s 15-man squad for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, following Scotland's entry as a replacement for Bangladesh. His inclusion comes on the back of a successful 2025 season where he averaged 34.25 in ODIs and earned a Player of the Match award on his T20I debut for a quickfire 40 against the Netherlands. Beyond the national side, he has represented clubs such as Grange and had a stint with the Gloucestershire Second XI in England. Heading into his first World Cup, McCreath is expected to be a vital all-round asset, balancing his technical batting with useful medium-pace contributions on the subcontinent’s pitches.
