Kamindu Mendis

Pasqual Handi Kamindu Dilanka Mendis is a world-class batting all-rounder and one of the most uniquely gifted cricketers in the modern game. Born on September 30, 1998, in Galle, Sri Lanka, he gained international fame for his rare ambidextrous bowling, capable of switching between right-arm off-break and slow left-arm orthodox. However, it is his prolific left-handed batting that has redefined his career. Since his debut, Mendis has set the cricketing world alight, becoming the joint-third fastest player in history (and the fastest Asian) to reach 1,000 Test runs, achieving the feat in just 13 innings—a record shared with Sir Don Bradman.

As of early February 2026, Mendis is a centerpiece of Sri Lanka’s campaign for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He was a late 'surprise' inclusion in the final 15-man squad, officially replacing Dhananjaya de Silva due to his superior flexibility and recent form. His 2024–2025 seasons were nothing short of historic; he was crowned the ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year and became the first player to score fifty-plus runs in each of his first eight Test matches.
