Safyaan Sharif

Safyaan Mohammed Sharif, born on May 24, 1991, is a Scottish cricketer known for his skills as a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a right-handed batsman. He made his international debut for Scotland in June 2011, marking the beginning of a successful cricketing career.

In May 2018, Sharif was signed by Derbyshire County Cricket Club to play in the 2018 Royal London One-Day Cup and 2018 t20 Blast tournaments. He continued to showcase his talent in T20 cricket, being selected to play for the Edmonton Royals franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament. Additionally, he was chosen to play for the Glasgow Giants in the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament in July 2019, although the tournament was later cancelled.

Sharif's international career has been marked by notable performances. He made his debut for Scotland in a One Day International (ODI) against the Netherlands in the 2011-13 Intercontinental Cup One-Day competition, where he impressed with figures of 4/27. Over the years, he continued to excel, making significant contributions to the team in various formats of the game.

In March 2018, during the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier match against Zimbabwe, Sharif achieved a milestone by taking his first five-wicket haul in ODIs. His exceptional performance earned him the player of the match title, solidifying his reputation as a key player for Scotland. Sharif's consistent performances led to him being named as the rising star of Scotland's squad by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Sharif's success continued as he was named in Scotland's squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Scotland. In September 2021, he was named in Scotland's provisional squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, further highlighting his importance to the national team.
