Saurabh Netravalkar

Saurabh Naresh Netravalkar is an Indian-born American cricketer who has captained the United States team. He is a left-arm medium-fast bowler who represented the India under-19 team.

Netravalkar, a software engineer, is an alumnus of Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Mumbai and Cornell University. He currently works for Oracle.

Netravalkar's cricketing journey began in India, where he represented the country in the 2010 U19 World Cup, playing alongside future Indian national team players like KL Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat, and Mayank Agarwal. He also played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments before moving to the United States, citing a lack of opportunities in India.

Netravalkar's international career with the United States began in January 2018 when he was selected for the 2017–18 Regional Super50 tournament in the West Indies. In August 2018, he was named in the squad for the 2018–19 ICC World Twenty20 Americas Qualifier tournament.

In October 2018, USA Cricket appointed Netravalkar as the captain of the United States team for the 2018–19 Regional Super50 tournament in the West Indies and the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament in Oman. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut as captain in a series against the UAE in February 2019, which marked the first T20I fixtures played by the United States national team.

Netravalkar's leadership skills were further recognized when he was announced as the captain for the United States' squad in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament in Namibia. The team finished in the top four places, earning One Day International (ODI) status, and Netravalkar made his ODI debut against Papua New Guinea.

In the following months, Netravalkar continued to lead the United States in various international tournaments, including the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier tournament, where he was named captain, and the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament. He made history in the 2019 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series, becoming the first bowler for the United States to take a five-wicket haul in an ODI match.

Netravalkar's performances and leadership have been crucial to the development of cricket in the United States. He has represented the country in various capacities, including as a player and captain, and has made significant contributions to the team's success on the international stage.
