Harshitha Samarawickrama

Harshitha Madhavi Dissanayake Samarawickrama, born on June 29, 1998, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is a left-handed batter and right-arm medium bowler who is a vital player for the Sri Lankan women's cricket team. She made her Twenty20 International (T20I) debut in March 2016 against Ireland, followed by her One Day International (ODI) debut in September 2016 against Australia. Known for her technically sound batting and calm composure, Harshitha often occupies the crucial No. 3 batting position, where she serves as a key playmaker.

She has accumulated over 1,000 ODI runs at an average of around 30, including three centuries, and has also been prolific in T20Is with more than 1,500 runs and 12 half-centuries. Harshitha has held leadership roles as vice-captain of the national team in various major tournaments, including the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup, the 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. In July 2024, she played a match-winning unbeaten 69 in the Women's Asia Cup final against India, helping Sri Lanka secure their first-ever Women's Asia Cup title and earning Player of the Match honors. Her steady presence and stroke play continue to be integral to Sri Lanka’s batting lineup.
