Marufa Akter

Marufa Akter, born on January 1, 2005, in Nilphamari, Bangladesh, is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and right-handed batter playing for the Bangladesh women's national cricket team. Growing up in a cricket-loving environment, Marufa developed her skills and rose through the ranks to represent Bangladesh at the international level. She made her T20 International debut in December 2022 against New Zealand and her One Day International debut in December 2024, also against New Zealand.

Marufa quickly gained recognition as a promising young talent, known for her ability to swing the ball and bowl economically. She played a key role in Bangladesh's win against India in an ODI in July 2023, taking four wickets and earning the Player of the Match award. Marufa was part of the Bangladesh squad at the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup and helped the team secure a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games. In 2024, she won the ESPNcricinfo Women's ODI Bowling Award for her standout performances. As of 2025, Marufa remains an important player for Bangladesh, participating in recent ICC tournaments including the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
