She made her international debut in October 2010 and has become a key bowler known for her seam movement and ability to take wickets consistently. Klaas has played an important role in South Africa's campaigns in major tournaments, including the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 and the Women’s Cricket World Cup.

A notable highlight in her career came in May 2019 when she took a hat-trick against Pakistan in a Women's ODI, becoming the second South African woman to achieve this feat. Klaas has been part of the Women's T20 Super League in South Africa and continues to be a vital member of the national squad through her bowling prowess and useful lower-order batting. Off the field, she holds a qualification in Project Management and represents resilience and dedication as a sportsperson emerging from a region with fewer resources for women’s cricket. Masabata Klaas remains a respected and influential figure in South African women's cricket.
