Shorna Akter

Shorna Akter, born on January 1, 2007, is a promising young Bangladeshi cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for the Bangladesh women's national cricket team. She bats right-handed and bowls right-arm leg-break, showcasing versatility from a young age. Shorna was a key player in the Bangladesh Under-19 squad for the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, where she impressed with an average of 51.00, including a half-century, and was the only Bangladeshi named in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament.

She made her Twenty20 International debut for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in January 2023 during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. Shorna was named in Bangladesh’s squads for both T20I and ODI formats in 2023 and made her ODI debut against India in July 2023. She overcame some early injury setbacks and was part of the Bangladesh squad that won the bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games and helped Bangladesh clinch their maiden T20I series win against Pakistan later in 2023. Known for her all-round performances, including a maiden five-wicket haul against South Africa in December 2023, Shorna Akter is considered an exciting and vital talent in Bangladesh’s future cricket plans.
