Sophie Devine

Sophie Frances Monique Devine, born on September 1, 1989, in Wellington, New Zealand, is one of the most celebrated all-rounders in women's cricket, renowned for her powerful batting, effective right-arm medium-fast bowling, and athletic fielding. She made her international debut for New Zealand at the age of 17 and has since grown into a destructive batter and a reliable bowler, playing crucial roles in all three formats of the game. Devine holds the unique record of having batted in every position in the batting order for New Zealand and is known for her aggressive stroke play, including the fastest ever women's T20 hundred off just 36 balls in domestic cricket.

She has been pivotal in leading New Zealand, captaining the White Ferns since 2020, and guided the team to their first ICC Women's T20 World Cup title in 2024, while also earning a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Across her career, Devine has amassed nearly 4000 ODI runs, including eight centuries, and taken over 100 wickets in both ODIs and T20Is. A dual international athlete, she has also represented New Zealand in field hockey. Devine's influence extends beyond the field, exemplified by her leadership, resilience, and commitment to the sport. In June 2025, she announced her retirement from ODI cricket following the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 but will continue to participate selectively in T20Is.
