Virat Kohli is one of the greatest cricketers of the modern era, renowned for his exceptional batting prowess, consistency, and leadership. Rising to prominence after leading India to victory in the 2008 ICC Under-19 World Cup, Kohli made his international debut the same year and quickly became a mainstay across all formats. He is the fastest batsman to reach several key milestones, including 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 runs in ODIs. Kohli holds the record for the most ODI centuries with 51, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, and he accumulated over 9,200 Test runs with 30 centuries before retiring from Test cricket in 2025. Known for his remarkable fitness, intense competitiveness, and ability to chase targets, Kohli has won multiple ICC awards, including three ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year honors and the ICC Test Player of the Year award. His captaincy is highlighted by India’s historic first Test series win in Australia in 2018-19 and a total of 40 wins in 68 Tests as captain, making him India’s most successful Test captain to date.

In addition to his international exploits, Virat Kohli dominates the Indian Premier League (IPL) records, holding the most runs, centuries, and fifties in the tournament's history. Under his leadership, Royal Challengers Bangalore won their maiden IPL title in 2025 after an 18-year wait. Kohli's batting is characterized by his elegant strokeplay, ruthless consistency, and ability to perform under pressure, exemplified by his record-breaking 765 runs in the 2023 ODI World Cup, the highest ever in a single edition. Throughout his career, he has scored 82 international centuries across formats and maintained high batting averages—around 57.7 in ODIs and 46.9 in Tests—cementing his status as one of cricket's most formidable and influential players. His numerous accolades include the Padma Shri, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, and Arjuna Award for his outstanding contributions to Indian cricket.
