Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is a talented Indian right-handed opening batsman known for his elegant stroke play and consistency in limited-overs cricket. He gained prominence with his outstanding performances in domestic tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he was the leading run-scorer for Maharashtra in the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 603 runs, including four centuries. Gaikwad made a significant impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), winning the Orange Cap in 2021 as the highest run scorer with 635 runs, including a century and multiple half-centuries, helping CSK secure their fourth title. His consistent form continued as he scored 590 runs in the 2023 IPL season, aiding CSK in winning their fifth IPL trophy. Ahead of the 2024 IPL season, he was named captain of CSK, succeeding MS Dhoni.​

Gaikwad has also begun making strides internationally with the Indian team, scoring his maiden T20 International century (123*) against Australia in 2023 and accumulating 633 runs in 23 T20I matches at an average close to 40 with a strike rate above 140. He has played six ODI matches with a top score of 71 and continues to develop his skills in international cricket. Known for his temperament and technique, Gaikwad is seen as a promising young player with the potential to be a key figure in India's batting lineup across formats.
