Keshav Maharaj

Keshav Maharaj is a South African professional cricketer born on February 7, 1990, in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. A slow left-arm orthodox spinner and a lower-order right-handed batsman, Maharaj has been a pivotal figure in South Africa's bowling attack across all formats since his Test debut in November 2016. He made an early impression as a teenage prodigy, debuting for KwaZulu-Natal at just 16 years old. Over the years, Maharaj has become South Africa's leading spinner, known for his accuracy, tactical acumen, and ability to deliver in crucial moments. One of his career highlights includes taking 9 wickets for 129 runs against Sri Lanka in 2018, the best bowling figures by a visiting bowler in Sri Lanka and the best by a South African spinner in Asia.

Maharaj was instrumental in South Africa's victory at the 2025 ICC World Test Championship and has captained the national team in limited-overs cricket, including his T20I debut where he captained the side, claiming a wicket with his first ball. He has also played domestic cricket for the Dolphins and captains Durban’s Super Giants in the SA20 league.
