Narayan Jagadeesan

Narayan Jagadeesan, born on December 24, 1995, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is a right-handed wicket-keeper batsman known for his aggressive batting style and solid glovework. He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy, where he impressed by scoring an unbeaten 123 and winning the player of the match award. Jagadeesan has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket, excelling in all formats including the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He became highly notable when he smashed a record-breaking 277 runs off 147 balls in the 2022–23 Vijay Hazare Trophy, setting the highest individual score in men’s List A cricket and achieving the rare feat of scoring five consecutive centuries in this format.

In the Indian Premier League, Jagadeesan was first bought by Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and made his debut in 2020. Later, he was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2023 season, where he continued to develop his reputation as a capable middle-order batsman. Known for his front-foot drives and inside-out lofted strokes, Narayan combines technical skill with a fearless approach to batting. In 2025, he earned his maiden call-up to the India national team for the Test squad as a replacement for Rishabh Pant, marking a major step in his cricketing career. His domestic performances and rising profile make him a promising talent for Indian cricket in the years ahead.
