In his first year at Bengal (2022/23), the cousin brother of pacer Ishan Porel showed a lot of promise. Six half-centuries from 16 First Class matches with an aggregate of 695 runs might not be ground-breaking, but was a solid audition for the permanent role as a gloveman for the Bengal side. An aggressive batter with a knack of hitting boundaries, Porel impressed the important men, including Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly, at Delhi Capitals to graduate from the nets and make it to the squad. He now stands a genuine chance of making it to the other side of the nets and be part of the playing XI.
