Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood, born on January 8, 1991, in Tamworth, New South Wales, is an Australian international cricketer renowned for his accuracy and consistency as a right-arm fast-medium bowler. Often compared to Glenn McGrath, Hazlewood has been a key figure in Australia's success across formats and is currently ranked No. 4 in Tests, No. 11 in ODIs, and No. 20 in T20Is by the ICC.
Hazlewood made his Test debut in December 2014 against India at The Gabba, taking a five-wicket haul in his first innings. He has since become one of Australia's most reliable bowlers, playing pivotal roles in multiple ICC tournament victories, including the 2015 Cricket World Cup, the 2021 T20 World Cup, and the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Notably, he became the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in day-night Test cricket history.
In ODIs, Hazlewood debuted in 2010 and achieved remarkable feats such as taking 4/17 on debut and becoming the fastest Australian to reach 50 Test wickets in just 12 matches. He also holds the record for being dismissed for a 'diamond duck' in a 54-run partnership without facing a ball. In T20Is, Hazlewood debuted in 2013 and has since improved his variations, becoming a key player in Australia's maiden T20 World Cup win in 2021. He was also the first bowler to be ranked among the top 10 across all three formats after the tournament.
Hazlewood has had a successful IPL career as well, playing for Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Injuries have occasionally interrupted his career, but he remains one of Australia's most dependable bowlers with over 250 Test wickets and significant contributions across formats. He was named in Australia’s squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup but missed parts of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and other series due to injury.
