Maheesh Theekshana

Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana, born on August 1, 2000, is a Sri Lankan cricketer renowned for his exceptional skills in all three formats of the game. Making his international debut for Sri Lanka in September 2021, Theekshana quickly rose to prominence as one of the best T20 bowlers globally, drawing comparisons to the legendary Ajantha Mendis, who mentored him during his time at the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club.

Raised by his grandmother and originating from Siddhartha Vidyalaya, Sedawatta, his talent was soon recognized by St. Benedict's College, Colombo, where he excelled in school cricket. Despite financial constraints, Theekshana's cricketing dreams were supported by the cricket wing of St. Benedict's, eventually earning him a scholarship to pursue his passion. His foray into professional cricket saw him join the Sri Lanka Army, where he served as a Private in the Gajaba Regiment while representing the Sri Lanka Army cricket team.
