Vijay Shankar

Vijay Shankar, born on January 26, 1991, is an accomplished Indian cricketer known for his versatility and all-round skills. Representing the Tamil Nadu state cricket team, Shankar has made significant contributions to both domestic and international cricket. As an all-rounder, he bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace, adding depth to his team's lineup.

Shankar made history during the 2019 Cricket World Cup when he became the first Indian player to pick up a wicket on the very first ball of his World Cup debut, showcasing his impact on the big stage. In addition to his international endeavors, Shankar has also been a vital player for his domestic team, Tamil Nadu.

His standout performances in domestic cricket include winning two Man of the Match awards during the knockout stage of the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy. Notably, he played crucial innings in the quarterfinal against Vidarbha and the semifinal against Maharashtra, contributing with both bat and ball to propel Tamil Nadu to the final. Despite his efforts in the final against Karnataka, Tamil Nadu fell short, but Shankar's performances were commendable.
