Amit Kumar

Amit Kumar is a young right-arm leg-spinner from Ranchi, Jharkhand, who was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2026 auction. His selection is another success story from the cricketing heartlands of Ranchi, often referred to as the 'next big thing' from the city that gave the world MS Dhoni. The son of a humble farmer from Sasaram (Bihar) who moved to Ranchi for better opportunities, Amit’s journey to the IPL is a testament to his perseverance, having trained at the SAI Dhurwa Cricket Academy under the guidance of coach Mukteshwar Singh.

Amit is a prolific wicket-taker in the age-group categories, having represented Jharkhand at the Under-16, Under-19, and Under-23 levels. He shot to local fame during the Jharkhand T20 League, where he represented teams like the Dhanbad Dynamos and Ranchi Raiders, consistently bamboozling batters with his sharp leg-breaks and a well-disguised googly.
