Danish Malewar

Danish Malewar is a 22-year-old batting prodigy from Nagpur who was signed by Mumbai Indians for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2026 auction. A right-handed top-order batter who also bowls useful leg-breaks, Malewar has rapidly ascended the ranks of Indian domestic cricket. He first caught the national eye during the 2022-23 Cooch Behar Trophy, where he amassed a record-breaking 1,171 runs at an astounding average of 117.10, including a triple century. Since making his senior debut, he has transitioned seamlessly into the professional circuit, becoming one of the fastest Indians to reach 1,000 First-Class runs, achieving the milestone in just 16 innings.

Malewar’s reputation as a 'big-match' player was solidified during Vidarbha’s title-winning 2024-25 Ranji Trophy campaign, where he was named Player of the Match in the final for his crucial scores of 153 and 73 against Kerala. He carried this red-hot form into the 2025-26 season, making history on his Duleep Trophy debut for Central Zone. In August 2025, he became the first Vidarbha player to score a double century (203) in the tournament and the first Indian in 81 years to 'retire out' after reaching such a landmark. With a T20 century already to his name in the Vidarbha Pro T20 League (120 off 55 balls), Malewar offers Mumbai Indians a high-ceiling domestic talent capable of anchoring or accelerating an innings.
