Gurjapneet Singh

Gurjapneet Singh, born on November 8, 1998, in Ludhiana, Punjab, is a left-arm medium-fast bowler and right-handed batsman. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, he has made significant strides in Indian domestic cricket.

After facing limited opportunities in Punjab's age-group cricket, Gurjapneet moved to Chennai in 2017 to pursue his cricketing ambitions. He played college cricket and represented Egmore RC in the TNCA third division before making his mark in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) with the Dindigul Dragons in 2021. Despite a back injury sidelining him for most of 2022, he returned to play for the Siechem Madurai Panthers in 2023, finishing the season with 15 wickets at an average of 14.10.

Gurjapneet made a memorable first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, achieving figures of 6 for 22 against Saurashtra, including dismissing Cheteshwar Pujara for a duck. These were the best bowling figures by a Tamil Nadu fast bowler in a home match since 2005–06. In his maiden Ranji season, he took 13 wickets in four matches.

His impressive performances led to his acquisition by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹2.2 crore in the 2025 IPL auction. Prior to this, he had served as a net bowler for CSK, showcasing his skills during practice sessions.
