Harpreet Brar
Harpreet Singh Brar, born on 16 September 1995, is an Indian cricketer who currently represents Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Punjab in domestic cricket.
Originally from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Harpreet Brar moved to Zirakpur, Punjab, at a young age. His father's background in the military and law enforcement instilled discipline in him. Brar began his cricket journey by playing for the Ropar district team and later represented Punjab at the under-16 level. He cites Yuvraj Singh as his role model.
In December 2018, Harpreet Brar secured an IPL contract with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for the 2019 season. He made his mark in IPL 2019 and subsequently earned a spot in the India Under-23 squad for a one-day series against Bangladesh Under-23 in September 2019.
Brar's standout moment in the IPL came on 30 April 2021, when he took his maiden IPL wicket by dismissing Virat Kohli and finished the match with impressive figures of 3-19 in four overs. His performance earned praise as he also claimed the wickets of Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers.
In the 2022 IPL auction, Brar was acquired by Punjab Kings, signifying the team's confidence in his abilities. His consistency and match-winning performances continued, notably in May 2023 when he took four wickets against the Delhi Capitals, contributing to his team's victory.
With his left-arm spin bowling and knack for taking crucial wickets, Harpreet Singh Brar has established himself as a valuable asset in T20 cricket, both at the domestic and IPL levels.
