Born on 26 May 2003 in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Nitish Kumar Reddy's early cricketing aspirations were nurtured by his father, Mutyala Reddy, a former Hindustan Zinc employee. His father's decision to quit his job to support Nitish's cricketing dreams underscored the family's commitment to his passion.
Nitish's tryst with cricket began at the tender age of 5, wielding a plastic bat and immersing himself in the game. Regular visits to the Hindustan Zinc grounds to watch senior players further fueled his love for the sport.
Supported by his father's unwavering belief, Nitish embarked on his cricketing journey. Initially training under coaches Kumara Swamy, Krishna Rao, and Watekar, Nitish honed his skills and caught the attention of former Indian cricketer and selector, MSK Prasad, during Under-12 and Under-14 matches.
Under the guidance of Prasad, Nitish's talent blossomed further as he earned a place in the ACA academy in Kadapa. Training under coaches Madhusudhana Reddy and Srinivasa Rao, Nitish showcased remarkable performances, including a monumental achievement of scoring 441 runs against Nagaland in the 2017-18 Vijay Merchant Trophy.
His stellar season, which also included a quadruple century, earned him accolades and recognition, including the BCCI 'Best Cricketer in the Under-16' Jagmohan Dalmiya award for the 2017–2018 season. Nitish's remarkable feat made him the first player from the Andhra Cricket Association to receive this prestigious award.
