Rahul Ajay Tripathi, born on March 2, 1991, in Ranchi, Jharkhand, is an Indian international cricketer with a rich background in both domestic and franchise cricket.

Rahul hails from a military family, born to former Army Colonel Ajay Tripathi and Suchitra Tripathi. His father, also a cricketer in his time, played for the Uttar Pradesh under-22 side in the early 80s. Growing up amidst frequent relocations due to his father's postings, Rahul's cricket journey began at the age of 9 in Lucknow. However, it was temporarily halted when his family moved to Srinagar as part of Operation Parakram, forcing him to take a break from the sport at age 10. Resuming his cricketing pursuits upon relocating to Pune in 2003, Rahul found his cricketing home at Pune's Deccan Gymkhana under the guidance of mentors like Kedar Joglekar and Hemant Athalye. His talent quickly became evident with notable performances, including three consecutive centuries at the U-19 level. Alongside his cricketing endeavors, Rahul excelled academically, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Sri Parashurambhau Mahavidyalay. Notably, sporting talent runs in the family, with his younger sister Rupali Tripathi representing Maharashtra in basketball.

In the domestic circuit, Rahul has left his mark, notably emerging as the leading run-scorer for Maharashtra in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, accumulating 504 runs in eight matches.

Rahul's journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) began in February 2017 when he was acquired by the Rising Pune Supergiants. Subsequently, he moved to the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction before joining the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2020 edition. His prowess caught the attention of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who secured his services in the 2022 IPL auction.

Rahul's international debut came in January 2023 against Sri Lanka, where he represented the Indian cricket team in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match. While his debut innings saw him score 5 runs, it marked the beginning of his journey in international cricket, showcasing his talent and potential on the global stage.
