Sakib Hussain

Sakib Hussain is a 21-year-old right-arm fast bowler from Gopalganj, Bihar, who was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2026 auction. A raw and exciting talent, Hussain first entered the IPL system in 2024 with Kolkata Knight Riders, where he was part of their title-winning squad. Although he did not get a game that season, the experience of being mentored by bowling legends proved pivotal. After missing out in 2025, he earned his way back through a series of rigorous trials with CSK, DC, and RR, eventually impressing the SRH scouts and bowling coach Varun Aaron.

Hussain's story is one of remarkable resilience. The son of a laborer who worked in Saudi Arabia to support the family, Sakib honed his skills at the Tunna Giri Cricket Academy in Gopalganj. He shot to domestic prominence after a standout performance in the Bihar Cricket League and a record-breaking stint with the Bihar Under-19 team, where he emerged as one of the leading wicket-takers in Chandigarh. Known for his 'skiddy' pace and ability to swing the ball at over 140 km/h, Hussain entered the 2026 auction fresh from the Vijay Hazare Trophy camp. With a refined action and improved tactical awareness, he is now viewed as a high-potential pace asset for the Sunrisers' attack.
