Shahbaz Ahmed

Shahbaz Ahmed, born on December 11, 1994, in Mewat, Haryana, is an Indian cricketer renowned for his role as a bowling all-rounder. He represents the Indian cricket team at the international level, Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and Bengal in domestic cricket.

Shahbaz's journey to cricketing prominence began when he decided to pursue his passion for cricket over engineering studies, much to the initial reluctance of his parents. He exhibited academic excellence during his schooling years but opted to focus on cricket. During the COVID-19 lockdown in India, he completed his B.Tech. degree.

After relocating to Kolkata and enduring hardships, including working odd jobs to sustain himself, Shahbaz's talent caught the attention of cricketing circles. He honed his skills under the mentorship of notable figures like Partha Pratim Chowdhury and Manoj Tiwary, eventually earning the nickname 'Jaanbaaz' for his pivotal contributions to Bengal's cricketing endeavors.

His domestic career highlights include notable performances in various tournaments, such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Ranji Trophy. Shahbaz has demonstrated his prowess with both bat and ball, consistently contributing to his team's success.

In the IPL, Shahbaz initially played for Royal Challengers Bangalore before being traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad in November 2023. His IPL journey has been marked by impactful performances, including memorable spells and crucial contributions with the bat.
