Urvil Patel

Urvil Patel is an explosive wicketkeeper-batter from Gujarat known for his aggressive stroke play and quick scoring ability. Born on October 17, 1998, in Mehsana, he began his domestic career with Baroda before moving to Gujarat. A right-handed batter, he gained attention for his top-order performances in domestic T20 tournaments and List A cricket.

He holds the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian, scoring a 28-ball hundred against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November 2024. He also smashed a 41-ball century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which became the second-fastest List A century by an Indian. These innings showcased his destructive power-hitting, particularly in the powerplay overs.

In March 2025, Chennai Super Kings signed Urvil as a replacement for Vansh Bedi. He impressed in mid-season trials with knocks of 41 off 20 and 50 off 20 balls. Previously part of the Gujarat Titans squad in IPL 2023, he didn’t get a game. His T20 stats include over 1100 runs at a strike rate of nearly 230 in the 2024–25 season, underlining his potential as a game-changing opener in the shortest format.
