Varun Chakravarthy Vinod, born on August 29, 1991, in Bidar, Karnataka, is a prominent figure in Indian cricket. Renowned for his leg-spin bowling skills, he represents Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chakravarthy made his mark in international cricket with his debut for the India cricket team in July 2021.

Growing up, Chakravarthy pursued his education in Chennai, attending Kendriya Vidyalaya CLRI and later St. Patrick's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. Despite his architectural background, he made a bold career shift at the age of 25, leaving his job to pursue cricket professionally.

His cricketing journey saw significant milestones, with his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy marking the beginning. Throughout the tournament, he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Tamil Nadu. His talent was further showcased with his first-class debut for the state in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy.

Chakravarthy's IPL journey commenced in December 2018 when he was acquired by the Kings XI Punjab in a significant bid. Despite a challenging debut over, he continued to hone his skills, eventually being picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2020 IPL auction. His notable performance in the 2020 IPL, including his first five-wicket haul against the Delhi Capitals, solidified his position as a key player for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Internationally, Chakravarthy's prowess earned him a spot in India's T20I squad for their series against Australia in October 2020. Although an injury ruled him out of the squad, he bounced back and was named in India's T20I squad for their series against England in February 2021. Subsequently, he made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka in July 2021, showcasing his talent with the crucial wicket of Dasun Shanaka. His stellar performances earned him a spot in India's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
