Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell William Marsh, born on October 20, 1991, is a prominent Australian cricketer who captains the national T20I side and plays in ODIs, having previously featured in Tests and served as vice-captain across formats. Domestically, he represents Western Australia, leads the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, and plays for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. Marsh was part of Australia’s 2015 Cricket World Cup and 2021 T20 World Cup-winning teams and vice-captain for the 2023 World Cup. He made his international debut in 2011 and has had notable performances including a maiden Test century in the 2017–18 Ashes and a five-wicket haul in Tests. Despite injuries and setbacks, Marsh has been a key all-rounder for Australia, known for his powerful batting and useful off-spin bowling.

In recent years, Marsh has taken on leadership roles, captaining Australia’s white-ball teams since 2023 and earning player of the series awards, notably during the 2023 South Africa T20I tour. He excelled as an opener in the 2023 ODI India tour, earning player of the series honors, and played a vital role in Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup campaign with two centuries. Marsh returned to Test cricket in 2023 with a commanding century in the Ashes and continued strong performances in home Tests. Named captain for the 2024 T20 World Cup, he led Australia to a 3-0 T20I series win over Scotland in 2024.
