James Neesham

James Douglas Sheahan Neesham, commonly known as Jimmy Neesham, born September 17, 1990, in Auckland, New Zealand, is a dynamic all-rounder renowned for his left-handed batting and right-arm medium-fast bowling. Neesham has been a vital member of the New Zealand cricket team across all formats since his debut in 2012. He made a memorable Test debut with an unbeaten 137, the highest score by a number eight batsman on debut, and followed it with a century in his second Test, becoming the first New Zealander to score centuries in his first two Tests. Known for his aggressive batting style and ability to take key wickets, Neesham was a crucial part of New Zealand squads that finished runners-up in the 2019 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup.​

In international cricket through 2025, Neesham has played 12 Tests scoring 709 runs at an average of 33.76 and taking 21 wickets. In 76 ODIs, he has amassed 1,495 runs and taken 72 wickets at an economical rate, contributing vital performances such as his 34 runs in an over against Sri Lanka and his five-wicket hauls including a 5/27 against Bangladesh.
